Yes, Hinata-sama. Where are you, currently?

In the kitchen. I made tea.

[A little over a minute later, Neji enters the kitchen looking somewhat apprehensive, but he inclines his head in wordless greeting and settles down on a stool in front of the counter]

Is everything alright, Hinata-sama?

[Hinata herself doesn't look all that comfortable. Her cheeks are slightly red, and as soon as she finishes pouring the tea, she starts fidgeting.]

I-I don't know yet.

... It's about Akira-kun.

[He watches her, noting the mild flush with a frown, and accepts his tea, tugging the sugar over for just the slightest bit of sweetness to offset the edge of bitterness.]

Akira? [He pauses, brows creasing, concern playing along with Hinata's expressed uncertainty] I don't know him well, but he reminds me of one of your teammates from what I've seen...

[Hinata looks surprised at that ... but it's true Akira does look a bit like Kiba, even though that's not who sprung to her mind when she first saw him.]

... I know you've ... talked to him about me several times. A-And ... [She takes a deep breath.] I want you to stop, Neji-niisan.

[He may have informed her that he'd only spoken with Akira twice had she been anyone else, but as it was, a slow blink indicated surprise and a lack of initial comprehension. But it sinks in through a layer of pride, and he occupies himself with his tea, spending a few quiet moments in contemplation]

...I understand, Hinata-sama. I apologize for interfering, as well as for any issue I may have caused either of you.

[Hinata's fidgeting has increased as she waits for him to speak, and when he does, she almost flails as she tries to explain.]

I-I know that ... you're only looking out for me, and ... I'm grateful for it, I really am ! B-But ... Akira-kun is a good person. He'd never hurt me. I know it.

[He mulls that over a little with some tea, not particularly happy that he was going to be leaving Akira alone altogether, but he had little reason to contradict her. He nods]

I trust your judgement in that regard, Hinata-sama. [And he does, because she's perceptive- Hyuuga were unlikely to be manipulated. Still, his fingers hold onto the teacup in his hands is a little more than necessary.]

Just be cautious even in personal matters. This world can be unpredictable.

I w-will. I promise. So ... you don't have to worry about me, Neji-niisan.

[She's been protected her whole life, sheltered even, and while this has changed now, this place is so different, with no Clan to watch her every move.]

I ... I'd like you to meet him. If you want to. [She adds this hastily, as if understanding this might be a sore point.]

[He nods, briefly excusing his lack of reply with a drink of tea as words surface- hot and tempered- until he smooths away the edge]

That's fine, though I'm not certain he'll wish the same.

Y-You two just didn't start on a good footing, that's all !

[All in all, she's quite certain they'll never get along, but as long as they're civil, it doesn't matter.]
